Most of the curiosities in biological nomenclature appear in scientific names of organisms and of genes, probably because that's where most of the naming occurs. (There are about 1.4 million named species and 30,000 human genes.) However, curiosities show up in other biological nomenclature, too. This page collects them, as well as stories about naming names that don't fit well elsewhere.
